Through our intake process, very often it is determined that supporting the whole family can be more beneficial than working with a child alone. In many of these cases, including parents and siblings as an integral part of teaching skills as well as addressing family patterns that contribute to a child’s symptoms can lead to more solid change and growth. Parents are encouraged to support the child with skills learned in counseling through modeling skills, celebrating a child’s successes, and incorporating skill- oriented language into the family narrative.
